in development and awaiting funding. A number of examples are provided below:
- Schemes to address diffuse and point source pollution through asset improvements and improved land management practices have been included in South East Water’s and Southern Water’s business plan proposals for the next Asset Management Plan (AMP) cycle from
2015-20. A final decision on these proposals is expected from Ofwat,
the economic regulator for the water industry, in December 2014.
- A project to improve fish passage at Sessingham is underway. Please see the November 2015 update for a description of the work and plans to date.
- The management programme to control floating pennywort and sediment is underway in the Pevensey Levels to improve conditions for native macrophytes and fish.
- The multi-partnered Hastings Bathing Water Project is tackling urban diffuse pollution to improve bathing water quality by various mechanisms including addressing misconnections and raising public awareness.
- The Hollington Stream Restoration Project will identify opportunities for wetland habitat and ecological enhancements in culverted sections of the stream.
